Founder of Gloria Legal - Christine Gloria Linus, Esqes.
Updated: Sep 23, 2020
I am the founder of Messrs Gloria Legal and I started my law firm business from my home on 3rd August 2018.
I read law at MARA University of Technology (UiTM), Shah Alam, Selangor and graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) (LL.B (Hons)) in 2013. Thereafter, I commenced my pupillage at Messrs Allion Kitingan for 2 months under the guidance of my master, Mr. Sonnydurai to venture litigation cases. I then resigned and finished my pupillage at Messrs Idrus & Tsai for 10 months under the guidance of my master, the late Mr. James Tsai to take experience learning about criminal cases.
After I finished my pupillage, I joined Messrs Fernandez & Co as a research officer where I was put under litigation and conveyancing department.
I felt that there is a need for me to improve my portfolio being the reason why I resigned from Messrs Fernandez & Co and joined a government linked agency, Sabah Economic Development and Investment Authority (SEDIA) as legal advisor on 2015. I was then called to the bar on March, 2015 in the High Court of Sabah & Sarawak and qualified as an advocate and solicitor.
In the course of working with SEDIA for 8 months, I realized that this career is not for me. I find that I dislike hours of meetings and I didn't have any passion. Soon after that, I accepted an offer to be a legal assistant from Messrs Rahman & Juhar under the guidance of Datuk Abdul Rahman. I started to experience court cases and dealing with clients.
Working at Messrs Rahman & Juhar has taught me that there are lots of clients who have troubles in solving legal problem. I have this urge to do something about it and I accepted an offer from Messrs Sally Lu & Co to join this firm as a partner on 2016. At this firm, I have the opportunity to improve my career as a lawyer of which I can select my own cases. However, one that I am lacking of is how to do a business. I have no idea where to start and I didn't have any networking. Nobody knows me. I did enjoy my freedom but it came with a price.
At around early 2017, I finally gave up my freedom. I know that I need to start over again and look for the missing part. I found my path when I received an offer from Tengku Fuad to join his firm, Messrs FT Ahmad & Co as a legal assistant. I experienced lots of cases that I never encountered before. Some were unique. I learn how to be a proper lawyer and in the same time I ventured the business world.
Finally on August, 2018, I decided to take risk. I resigned from Messrs FT Ahmad & Co and opened my own legal firm, Messrs Gloria Legal. This time I am motivated and confident. The key is, learning never stops.
I would also like to thank my family and friends for supporting me throughout this journey especially my husband, a humble teacher, Mr. Pierrie Singh. May God bless you all.
